14th Feb 2009Le Tour de Langkawi 2009Shah Alam, Saturday February 14, 2009 - Concorde Hotel Shah Alam, the award-winning international-class business and conventions hotel hosted the riders and officials of the 2009 Le Tour de Langkawi for their 6th stage race which stopped there on 14th February. A mixture of professional and amateur race participants totaling 120 riders from 20 teams converged in Malaysia for the seven-day annual sporting extravaganza. The 13 year-old event proved to be better and attracted stronger interests as an important international cycling race as the turn out increased, not only from local supporters but also from foreign countries as well. The Media room prepared by the hotel was buzzing with activity as the media had to put out news to an estimated 800 million viewers all over the world. Datuk Naim Mohamad, Chief Operating Officer of Le Tour de Langkawi 2009 says, "Armed with the experience 2007 and 2008 organisation, I believe the running of the 2009 tour would be even better and ensure the development of cycling in the country receives as much attention and returns which will justify the Governments and Sponsors expenditure on the event." Indeed Concorde Hotel Shah Alam was selected based on good value and superior service to ensure participants and delegates’ needs were taken cared of to build on the Tour’s remarkable reputation. All stakeholders involved in the Tour were pleased that everything they needed were provided for as they prepared for the final stage. Overall, the Venezuela-registered professional continental team Diquigiovanni dominated the le Tour making it the most successful team ever. |
